The Israel Kibbutz Choir was established in 1955 by the composer und director
Yehuda Sharett.
The choir consist of 50 singers, all of whom are membem of kibbutzim, and who once a week
gather In Tel-Aviv from all over the couritry for a day of rehearsals. Every few weeks
there is a week-end convention in one of the klbbutzim, whIch culminates In a concert for
the local community.
The Israel Kibbutz Choir is member of the World organisation of Choirs IFCM as well as of
"Europa Cantat". The choir took part In seven Europa Contat festivals and had
concerts in most of the European countries as weil as in the United States, Australia and
New Zealand.
The choir was Invited to take part in the Symposium organized by the IFCM, which took
place In the Opera House of Sydney, Australia. In 1977 the choir was Invited to
participate in two festivals in the Czech Republik,
The choir has lately completed an important and fruitful chapter of 35 years under the
baton of Professsor Avner Ital.
During all of the years the choir emphasized the performance of Jewish and Israeli music.
The choir produced 4 records and 3 disks devoted to Israeli composers, and recorded for
radio stations in Israel and in many European countries. |
