The Bach
Singers were created in the fall of 1985 from singers selected and contucted
by Lŕszlo Dobos. From the beginning, our goal was not only to present the
longer, more worthy pieces from choral music, but also to perform works
originaly written for instruments, rescored for vocals. In the l* years of
our groups existence, the focus has moved from the gems of the Renaissance
and Bach’s motets to more emphasis on early English music. This music,
lesser known in Hungary has become the group’s main profile (primarily the
works of T.Tallis and Purcell) The Bach Singers operates as an independent
artistic organisation. In addition to indepentently organized concerts in
Hungary and abroad (Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland ) for 1'+ years we have
performed in concerts and series of the Hungarian National Philharmonic, and
studio concerts of Hungarian Radio. With the 16 member Bach Singers expanded
to a 32 oratorical chorus, each year we performed jointly with the Pécs
Symphony Orchestra in presentation of the masterpieces of J.S. Bach and G.F.
Handel (Bach: Passion of St. John, Christmas oratory Easter oratory, H-moll
Messe, Passion of St. Mathew, Händel: Messiah)
Since the summer of 1999 the Bach Singers has been working under the
