The choir was founded in 1995 in collaboration with the Maria Magdalena Church, one of the major parishes in Stockholm. The repertoire is mostly sacred, a cappella as well as oratorys, such as St Mathew Passion, Brahms- Requiem etc. The choir has made a large number of first performances and is frequently broadcasted in the swedish radio.
In 1996 the choir won first price in the mixed as well as the female choir categories in the international competitions in Preveca, Greece. In 1999 and 2000 the choir recorded an opera with the Swedish Radio Symphony.

Ragnar Bohlin (born 1965) who in 1995 was appointed choir master in the church of Maria Magdalena, is the choir-s conductor. He holds degrees in church music and conducting from the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm and has studied piano in London with professor Peter Fechtwanger on a British Council scholarship. 1996 till 2000 Bohlin was the conductor of the Royal Philharmonic Choir in Stockholm. He is frequently used as a freelance conductor and has often collaborated with the Swedish Radio Choir.
