The chamber choir Collegium Vocale was
founded in 1971 and is based in Hamar, Norway. Its members, who come from
the whole of the eastern region of Norway, have a common wish to perform
music that demands something special of them. From the very beginning the
choir has aimed to present music of the highest quality and to find works
that reflect the enormous variety of choral music, which the three
CD-productions clearly reflect. Today it therefore upholds a position in the
front line amongst Norwegian choirs. A number of contemporary composers have
written music especially for the choir, including Knut Nystedt, Johan
Kvandal, Trygve Madsen, Daniel Helldén, Petter Dyndahl, Bjørn Sverre
Kristensen and Henning Sommerro.
The choir has participated in several Europa Cantat festivals and
continental choral competitions.
In addition to different concert tours (e.g. The Baltic countries and Poland
[1991], Gorizia, Italy [1997]), Collegium Vocale has been especially invited
to participate in different music festival, as festival choir and seminar
choir in the following festivals:
Music Festival Elverum, Norway (1992)
Nordland Musikkfestuke, Bodø, Norway (1993)
The Olympic Culture Festival, Winter Olympic Games, Lillehammer (1994)
Midnight Sun International Choirfestival, Tromsø, Norway (1996)
Bergen International Festival (1998)
National contest for choir in Trondheim (2000) |
