The University
of the East Chorale is the official University choir of the University
of the East in Manila, Philippines. It was formed in 1992 as an active
choale group but traces ist roots in the '70's.
In June of 1999, Ms. Anna Tabita Abeleda, member and resident
arranger of the world-renowned Philippine Magrigal Singers, took the
University of the East Chorale under her helm and expertise and brought to
heart her mission of forming and molding the UE Chorale to be one of the
finest choir in the Philippines if not yet in the world.
Barely three months after Ms. Abeleda directed the UEC, the group has
impressivly bagged three distinct awards in the field of chorale music.
These are: First Prize in the Regional Finals of the National Music
Competition for young artista (NAMCYA) which gave UEC the honor to represent
the National Capital Region in the said contry-wide competition; Second
Price in Youth Division of the First Concurso Coral de Ateneo and; garnering
the honorable Citation in the Finals of the NAMCYA heldat the Cultural
Center of the Philippines. |
