The University of Warwick
Chamber Choir consists of about 55 members spread fairly evenly across the
SATB voices, of which at least 30 sing in any one performance. The Choir is
split into two roughly equal groups, where each group rehearses its own
repertoire (and the two groups frequently become one for joint repertoire)
and perform in the same concerts. The rehearsal times for one group are
Wednesdays and Fridays 1-2pm, and Thursdays 5-7pm for the other group.
The Choir tends to
have two or three, and sometimes more, commitments per term. To give you an
idea of the choir's activities, we perform once a year in both Birmingham (often
with the organist Thomas Trotter) and Coventry cathedrals, and in churches
such as All Saints' in Leamington, Stoneleigh, and Holy Trinity in Coventry.
We frequently enter competitions such as the Sainsbury's Choir of the Year
and the Peterborough Choral Competition, and in January 2003 we were chosen
to sing in the BBC's Let the Peoples Sing Competition. We also sing at all
of the University's Degree Ceremonies. In addition to this, the Choir goes
on tour once a year. Recent tours have visited Barcelona, Prague and Ireland.
