Der Singkreis Porcia ist an der Organisation diese Musikfestes und an der Kommunikation zwischen den Teilnehmerchören maßgeblich beteiligt und somit mitverantwortlich für den guten Ruf, den diese Veranstaltung bei Ensembles und Dirigenten in aller Welt genießt.

Neben ansehnlichen Geldpreisen für die ersten drei Gewinner, einem Publikumspreis und der hochqualifizierten Beurteilung durch die Juroren locken die großzügige Vorstellung der Chöre in den Medien und die Aussicht auf Kontakt und mögliche interessante gemeinsame Projekte immer wieder ausgezeichnete Chöre nach Spittal an der Drau.

Since 1964 there has annually been the INTERNATIONAL CHOIRS' COMPETITION in Spittal an der Drau at the first weekend in July (Thursday to Sunday). Ten to twelve choirs from Europe and overseas countries compete with each other in two categories, folk-song and art-song. The choirs perform their programmes in front of an enthousiastic audience and an international jury. The SINGKREIS PORCIA is essentially involved in the competition's organization, engaged in the communication among the participating choirs themselves and thus responsible of the competition's good reputation all over the world. Apart from considerable cash-prizes for the first three winners and the highly qualified assessments of the jury, the generous presentation of the choirs in the media and the chance of establishing contacts and of possibly organizing common projects always attract exzellent choirs to come to Spittal an der Drau.
